The Crisis of Unsatisfied Desires

It’s February… The month of love! I can almost smell the sweet scent of romance in the air... 💞

It’s a time when I see new love blossom. Old flames are rekindled. Those in long standing relationships are reigniting their spark.

For singles, this could stir up some emotions… perhaps that of loneliness, longing and hopes of finding their soulmate. In each one of us there is a craving for the warmth of love and the depth of intimacy.

Yet, along this path, we often stumble upon unforeseen hurdles lurking in the bedroom, that dim the light of our relationships.

In the previous chapter, we reflected on some of these challenges. They can sow seeds of doubt, even lead to heartbreaks or trauma.

It’s a silent crisis, often hidden behind closed doors but its impact lives on in the lives of many. 

Here’s an alarming statistic…

I read a survey published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior in 2017 found that 34.1% of the participants in the United States reported low sexual satisfaction.

Imagine... 1 out of every 3 friends of yours are not sexually satisfied.

It’s heartbreaking to realize how many people are enduring these challenges; they are living unfulfilled lives. This isn’t merely a matter of physical satisfaction; it’s a reflection of the deeper emotional and relational dynamics in our society.

How did we get here?

Why is intimacy such a mystery?

Why is sex so misunderstood?

Why is there a lack of education on how to cultivate harmony in relationships, in and out of the bedroom?

Why do we expect everyone to just magically figure out everything about lovemaking by themselves without ever talking about it?

Intimacy is one of the most desirable experiences for every human being. But ironically, it is also the one thing that we feel most afraid to speak about.

It is a shame, how our society has suppressed all of us when it comes to the basic education around intimacy.

It is considered taboo to talk about it in our society. And because of this social stigma it has remained a mystery.

Most of us had our first exposure through porn...

…It could have been a playboy magazine back in the day, or since the last 2 decades it’s freely available on the internet. I am sure by now you already have heard how detrimental porn addiction is for your sexual health.

This mindless exposure to porn, often our first ever education on lovemaking, paints a distorted picture of what lovemaking really is.

This has led to a severe misunderstanding of what we truly need during lovemaking as men and women. We’ve been wired to think that intimacy is limited to bang bang, thump thump, squeeze squeeze!

But in reality...

Men and Women need different things during lovemaking!

Yes, we rarely educate ourselves on the differences of how the opposite sex wants to be loved. We haven’t been educated on the true essence of lovemaking. We don’t have the right teachers, role models who we can learn from. We are simply expected to know about it and be good at it.

It's no wonder that so many of us are lost, unsatisfied and frustrated when the real experience of sex doesn't match the misleading portrayals you see on video.

This is not just a few people suffering, this is a far larger issue prevalent in our society that nobody is willing to address. And that is what one of my Tantra retreats is all about!

In the sacred space of my Master Lover retreat, I guide all the participants (singles and couples) through a process of unlearning and relearning the true essence of lovemaking.
