At the core of Tantra massage is the concept of energy, prana or shakti, the life force that moves through us. This energy flows along pathways known as nadis, converging in chakras or energy centers.

Tantra massage is designed to awaken, balance, and guide this energy through the kundalini channel, encouraging it to move inward and upward. This process merges sexual vitality with super-conscious awareness, expanding both pleasure and consciousness.

While Tantra massage can elicit pleasurable sensations and even orgasms, it is fundamentally not designed as a sexual experience but rather as a holistic and spiritual journey that enhances overall well-being and personal connection.

I have heard so many horror stories from the world of Tantra Massage and this is why I decided to offer a dedicated, ethical Tantra Massage Training as a counter-balance. I think people everywhere deserve to receive exquisite Tantra Massage which is safe, healing, and which offers transformational Tantra experiences.

I have heard how some people abuse women in the name of Tantra Massage, calling it ‘de-armouring.’ The yoni is very delicate. Rough, goal-oriented ways of touching are harmful. Some people advertise ‘squirting sessions’ which are basically designed to force a woman to release amrita, which they call ‘female ejaculation.’ This divine nectar should never be forced from a woman’s body. It flows naturally when she is in deep, ecstatic surrender.

Some practitioners teach prostate healing in a weekend group or even in a two-hour event in a festival. This can be deeply traumatizing for a man. The anus needs to be approached with tender sensitivity, taking time, never forced. Trauma may reside in the deep interior of the yoni or anus, and the practitioner needs to be well trained to approach gently, to understand how to stay present in case of emotional release and how to integrate the powerful awakening of sexual energy with meditation and expanded spiritual states.

 

Integration through Tantra Massage

It is important to understand that Tantra Massage does not mean ‘Sexual Massage.’ It is a form of massage that includes genital touch within a two-hour full body massage session. However, this genital touch is offered without any goal. It is rather an integration of the whole being, body, mind, soul and spirit.

We may find ourselves floating in the womb of the universe or realizing our body as made of stardust. We may discover that physical orgasm is but a pale reflection of cosmic orgasm. We may discover our inner child alive and well in the depths of our heart. We may finally let go of a long-held abuse pattern held in our body and mind. All of this and more is possible during a Tantra Massage. It expands us, bringing us into the very heart of love.

 

How to Give a Tantric Massage

Create a Serene Environment

Choose a quiet, comfortable space free from distractions, and consider using soft lighting, candles, or natural elements to create a warm, inviting ambiance. Aromatic oils, such as lavender or sandalwood, can help promote relaxation and create a sensory experience that soothes the mind and opens the senses. The goal is to create a space that feels sacred, one where both the giver and receiver can feel safe and receptive.

Begin with Breathing Exercises

Start with simple breathing exercises, encouraging deep, full breaths that help clear the mind and connect each person with their body. Breathing together at a slow, rhythmic pace can create harmony and attune both parties to a shared energy flow.

Use Conscious, Intuitive Touch

Tantric massage isn’t about applying pressure or targeting sore muscles, it’s about creating a mindful connection through touch. Tantric massage involves massaging and stimulating the full body, with an emphasis on sensitive areas such as the genitalia. In general, there will be several types of touch being utilized by the giver:

  1. Blessing touch, which involves placing the hands in silence and stillness while sending loving prayerful energy into the receiver
  2. Caressing touch
  3. Soft and sensuous conscious touch
  4. Gliding touch
  5. Deep tissue touch, using either hands, forearms, elbows of even feet
  6. Pressing of marma points (energy centers)
  7. Percussive touch
  8. Heating up of the skin through friction
  9. Sudden stopping of movement and diving into a meditative void space with hands on the body
  10. Stretching limbs and bringing the receiver into various yoga positions during the massage Globalizing touch on the whole body
  11. Stroking of the auric field.

There are many and varied types of Tantra Massage and the practitioner will usually go through a questionnaire with the receiver before the start of a session in order to ascertain the best type of massage for this particular person. The receiver is asked to state their boundaries regarding touch before the massage so the giver can adapt to what will best serve this particular client.

Begin with a meditative opening to the massage, which may involve toning together, or doing a short visualization and calling in blessings. The first touch is very important and is often simply a placing of warmed hands on the sacrum of the receiver. The sacrum is the home of kundalini energy and so this is a very auspicious way to begin a Tantra massage.

From there, make slow, gentle strokes, tuning into the recipient’s energy and following their body’s natural contours. Use an intuitive touch, one that feels responsive rather than mechanical, allowing your hands to move according to the particular technique you are using and what feels good for the receiver. This approach helps activate the body’s energy flow, gently awakening areas that may be holding stagnation.

Incorporate Energy Work

As the massage progresses, focus on the body’s energy centers, or chakras. These points are gateways for energy flow and can be activated through touch, visualization, or intention. Place your hands gently over these areas and imagine a warm energy radiating from your hands into the receiver’s body. This part of the massage is about deepening the connection, inviting stagnation of energy to release and flow freely. Energy work in Tantric massage helps elevate the experience, guiding the receiver into a state of alignment and openness.

Close with Grounding Techniques

To end the massage, it’s essential to ground the energy and help the receiver feel anchored. Gently place your hands on their feet or lower back, areas that connect them to the earth and create a sense of stability. Encourage slow, mindful breaths to bring the focus back to the present. This grounding practice helps seal the energy work.

Or, alternatively, you may like to use a hold which balances heaven and earth in the receiver, one hand on the crown chakra and one hand on the public bone. Then, lift your hands slowly into the auric field and sit in silence by the receivers side for approximately 3 minutes before inviting them to come back. A gentle reminder to drink water and take time to rest afterward supports this process, helping them integrate the experience and carry its benefits forward into daily life.

 

Tantra Massage is Rooted in Meditation and Sexual Energy

In order for this to happen effectively, the practitioner of Tantra Massage needs to be an experienced Tantrika and deep meditator. Usually people who are thinking of learning Tantra Massage are focused on the stereotype of internal massage methods, such as prostate and Yoni massage. If we teach these methods directly (as many teachers do), I consider this to be an unethical way of teaching this.

Internal massage is deeply intimate and if a person learns this in a weekend or in a short group, the arena is set for abuse patterns to play out. The person receiving can easily be re-traumatized rather than healed. If the person learning to give Tantra Massage is not being steeped in Tantra practices and understanding tantric sexuality, he or she will not be capable of holding space for the deep spiritual transformation which is possible through Tantra Massage.
