Yoni Massage: Step-by-Step Instructions, Techniques, & Benefits
Feb 04, 2025In Tantra, the yoni is revered as the wellspring of feminine power and pleasure.
The word 'yoni' is a Sanskrit word for the sacred space, symbolizing the divine essence of feminine energy. Yoni massage is a sacred ritual that allows you to reconnect with this divine essence, releasing stored emotions and energies that no longer serve you. It’s an act of self-love, a pathway to ecstasy, and a celebration of the body’s wisdom and beauty.
What Is a Yoni Massage?

The term yoni means “sacred space” in Sanskrit. Yoni massage is all about honoring this “sacred space” through intentional, mindful touch. But it’s more than just physical, it’s also a pathway to healing, self-discovery, and, yes, pleasure.
Yoni massage is a specific type of sensual and therapeutic practice within the broader field of massage therapy. It comes from ancient Tantric practices that view sexual energy as deeply spiritual. It’s about seeing the body and mind as a unified whole where emotions, energy, and even memories are stored. By working with this energy through touch, yoni massage allows us to release what no longer serves us, to reconnect with ourselves, and to celebrate the body’s sacredness.
How To Give Yourself or Your Lover a Yoni Massage
Prepare the Environment
First, create an intimate sanctuary. Dim the lights, light some aromatic candles, and cue up your most sensual playlist. This is your time to fully let go. You can even sprinkle in some grounding essential oils like sandalwood or rose to heighten the experience.
Boundary Talk: It is very important before beginning the session to have a clear line of communication established between giver and receiver. This may include signals which indicate ‘pause’ or ‘stop.’ The giver may ask the receiver to open her eyes and have eye contact with the giver from time to time during the session, as this can help with staying present with sensations, emotions or what needs to be communicated.
The giver will need to ask questions about any issues which the receiver may know about, for example, is there any history of sexual trauma? Is there any gynaecological issue? Is there any disease of the genitals? Has the receiver ever had surgery of the genital / pelvic area? Is there any sexual dysfunction? Is there any part of the body that the receiver does not wish to be touched?
Note: As a precaution, wearing smooth fitting surgical style gloves can be a good idea for internal Yoni Massage.
Get Comfortable
Comfort is everything! Find a soft surface like a bed or a yoga mat and add cushions or pillows for extra support. The goal is to make sure you feel completely at ease, physically and emotionally. If you’re with a partner, communicate about what feels comfortable and where any limits might be. This is all about creating a space where you or your partner can feel safe and open.
Take a few slow, deep breaths before you start. This small act helps you drop into the moment and leaves behind any lingering stress or tension.
Use Lubricant
A good organic lubricant can make all the difference. Choose a natural, body-safe option like coconut or almond oil, both of which have moisturizing benefits and glide smoothly on the skin. However, for a yoni massage, using a dedicated massage oil is essential. Massage oil not only provides adequate lubrication but also enhances feelings of arousal and facilitates smooth transitions between different stages of the massage, including both external and internal stimulation. Warm the oil in your hands before applying it to add an extra comforting touch.
If you’re using an oil with a subtle scent like lavender or chamomile, it can also add to the sensory pleasure and calm your mind.
Begin with Gentle, Conscious Touch and Massage
It is optimal to begin a Yoni Healing session by offering a full body massage. A good sequence is:
- Back of the body
- Back and sacrum
- Legs and feet
- Ask the receiver to turn over
- Back of the body
- Sit on the receiver’s right side
- Massage belly, chest, and shoulders
- Arms and hands
- Neck, ears, face, scalp
- Sit in-between the legs of the receiver with her knees resting over the giver’s thighs
- Massage the feet then lower legs up to the knees
- Massage the inner thighs
- Massage the groin
Globalise the massage of the legs with a few light strokes over the entire legs and feet. Let your fingers dance across the skin, savoring every delicious sensation. Then hold the feet for grounding.
Use a holding position, one hand under the body cupping the sacrum, the other hand being held gently over the pubic area. Hold this position in stillness for approximately 1 minute.
This isn’t about stimulation, but rather, reconnection. For the receiver; tune in closely and notice how your body responds. Are there any areas of tightness or resistance? Breathe into them, allowing the touch to melt away any lingering stress or worry.
Explore Deeper
Once the receiver is fully relaxed and open through the whole body massage, then you are ready to slowly approach the Yoni, progressively. It is important to understand that there are layers of the Yoni which contain many treasures, physical, emotional and spiritual. There also may be powerful body memories or even trauma which needs to be released. It is vital that the giver is not in any way seeking any goal or self-gratification. The giver is simply in pure service.
For the receiver, listen closely to your body’s cues, honoring any emotions or memories that may arise. This is a sacred space, after all, treat it with the utmost reverence and care. Let your breath and sounds guide you, inhaling deeply as you receive a very progressive Yoni Massage.
For the giver: after the holding position, you can then very lightly carress only the outer labia, at least three times, using lots of lubricant as needed. Next you may massage the outer labia. Then, you can very gently carress in between the outer and inner labia. Next, you may caress around the clitoris very softly a few times. This is followed by a gentle presence with one finger on the clitoris. Following this, you may place the heel of your hand over the opening of the Yoni in a holding position. This creates a suction effect and the yoni may literally begin trying to suck your finger inside.
Have eye contact. The giver should ask the receiver before entry of his or her finger, if she is ready or not.
Once consent is established, the giver can allow the entry of only one finger to the level of the G-spot. (Goddess Spot) Hold the finger there, with a very gently soft come hither movement. This in itself may give rise to strong emotions, discomfort, or numbness or perhaps, heightened pleasure. Hold the finger there for approximately 5 —10 minutes, allowing the waves of experience to wash through. It is imperative not to have any goal. Just be there in pure presence.
For some receivers, this will be enough for this session.
For some receivers, who are already experiencing heightened pleasure in the G-Spot, it may be possible to explore further. However, further explorations really needs a proper Yoni Massage Training where you can learn how to do ‘Yoni Mapping’ and ‘Cervix Awakening.’
For the receiver, surrender to the experience, allowing waves of emotion, or healing and release or pleasure to wash over you. This is your time to reconnect with your divine feminine essence, to celebrate your body’s innate beauty and power.
When the session feels complete, the giver can very slowly withdraw your finger from the yoni and take the original holding position, just being there in pure presence, offering security. After 3 minutes, gently withdraw your hand into the auric field and sit beside the receiver in silence. Allow her to slowly come back from her experience. Once she is back and has opened her eyes, you can offer her a cup of herbal tea of some water.
Finally, have a sharing about the experience.
The Solo Version: If you would like to give a Yoni Massage Session to yourself, it is important to first give yourself a beautiful massage in whatever way you enjoy. Let the entire body be touched and loved wherever you can reach. Allow sounds and breath to accompany the touch.
Once the whole body massage is complete, give yourself a wonderful breast massage.
Then, offer to yourself, the progressive Yoni massage as indicated in the partnered version. Go through all the steps in exactly the same way as for the partnered version.

Sacred Yoni Sensual Massage Techniques
G-spot massage
The G-spot is located about 2-3 inches inside the front wall of the vaginal canal. Known for its sensitivity, the G-spot is part of the erectile tissue that can swell when stimulated, offering a different sensation from other areas. The pubic mound is also a sensitive area that can be stimulated using gentle pressure and various techniques to promote pleasure and release tension. Its stimulation can lead to intense pleasure and even emotional release, as it’s a space believed to store both pleasure and deep emotions.
Begin by using your fingers in a gentle, “come-hither” motion, allowing your touch to naturally meet the spot without applying intense pressure. Start slow, paying attention to any changes in texture as the area responds to touch. Adjust pressure based on comfort and response, giving yourself time to ease into the sensations.
Circling
The circling technique involves using gentle, circular motions around the yoni, especially focusing on areas like the labia and inner thigh. Use your fingers to make slow, deliberate circles, gradually expanding and contracting the size of the circles.
This technique provides a gentle, warming sensation that gradually builds comfort and relaxation. It’s a beautiful way to initiate receptivity to pleasure in the receiver and builds a foundation for deeper connection and allowing you to become fully present in the experience.
Tugging and rolling
Using a soft touch, gently tug or roll areas like the outer labia or clitoral hood between your fingers. The idea is to provide a stretching sensation without causing any discomfort. You may alternate between a gentle tug and a light roll for added variety.
Tugging and rolling is perfect when you want to introduce more sensation and engage with a variety of textures. It can add a playful element to the massage, especially when transitioning from external to more internal touch, helping to increase sensitivity in a gradual, comforting way.
Tapping
Tapping is a light, rhythmic technique that can be applied to areas like the inner thighs, outer labia, or pelvic bone. Use your fingertips to create a gentle, consistent tapping motion, allowing each tap to add a sense of liveliness to the massage.
Tapping is excellent for reawakening areas or bringing energy into areas that feel tense. It’s a gentle way to invite relaxation, stimulate blood flow, and offer a refreshing sensation, often leading to increased warmth and heightened awareness in the area.
Rolling
The rolling technique involves using your fingers to “roll” along specific areas like the inner labia or outer edges. Start with a soft grip, using a rolling motion to create a gentle sense of movement, which can be calming or stimulating depending on the pace and pressure.
This technique is ideal when transitioning between different areas, creating a seamless flow that maintains relaxation and focus.
Cupping
Place your hands gently over the yoni, “cupping” the area with warmth and light pressure. Hold this position for a few moments, allowing the sensation of warmth to permeate the area. Cupping is about stillness and presence, providing a grounding, secure feeling.
Cupping is ideal when you or your partner need a pause to reconnect and center. It offers a deeply nurturing sensation, allowing a moment of calm and security. This technique is especially useful at the beginning or end of the massage to create feelings of safety and openness.
Fingers
With the finger techniques, you have a range of options: use one finger for precise, gentle touch, or several fingers for broader strokes. Experiment with different pressures and motions, such as small circles, tapping, or gentle gliding along the surface.
Each finger technique offers a unique experience. Light, soft strokes promote relaxation, while firmer touches can be stimulating. Use this variety to explore and respond to sensations as they arise, tailoring each touch to what feels best in the moment.
Squeezing
Squeezing can be done by applying gentle pressure along the outer edges or specific areas of the yoni. Use your fingers to gently press and release in a rhythmic manner. This technique is especially helpful when winding down the massage, as it leaves the body feeling relaxed and renewed.
Yoni Massage and Those Who Have Experienced Sexual Trauma
For individuals who have experienced sexual trauma, yoni massage can be a powerful, albeit sensitive, pathway toward sexual healing by releasing stored tension and trauma in the pelvic area. This practice invites a gentle reconnection with the body, helping to rebuild trust and nurture a sense of safety within oneself. Trauma often leaves deep-seated imprints in the body, particularly in the pelvic region, and yoni massage provides a means of releasing these stagnations, allowing individuals to process and heal at their own pace.
Choosing a Trauma-Informed and Ethical Practitioner
For those who prefer working with a professional, finding a trauma-informed, ethical practitioner is crucial. A trauma-informed practitioner will prioritize consent, communicate openly about boundaries, and move at the individual’s pace, always putting safety and comfort first. Unfortunately, the growing popularity of “Tantra massage” has led some to misuse the term to imply services that are less about healing and more about providing explicit sexual services.
A reputable Tantra practitioner will have clear training, documented experience, and a deep understanding of both Tantra principles and trauma-sensitive care. They will always respect boundaries, communicate openly, and move at your pace within a professional, supportive environment. Warning signs of an unethical practitioner include providing vague or nonexistent credentials, pressuring you to progress faster than you feel comfortable, and lacking clear conversations around consent and boundaries.
Be especially wary of practitioners who overemphasize sexual services rather than focusing on emotional, spiritual, and energetic healing, as they may be exploiting Tantra’s common misconceptions.

FAQ
Is yoni massage safe?
Yoni massage is generally safe when practiced with care, respect, and attention to comfort. However, it’s essential to listen to your body and be mindful of any discomfort or emotional resistance that arises. Be sure to use body-safe, natural lubricants, and keep your hands and tools clean to avoid any irritation or infections.
How to practice edging through Tantric yoni massage
During a yoni massage, you can practice edging by increasing touch sensitivity gradually, allowing arousal to build and then gently pausing to let the sensation settle. Breathing techniques, particularly slow, deep breaths, can help control arousal and prolong the experience. Visualizing energy moving up through the body as you pause can add a layer of mindfulness to the practice.
Take breaks to allow your body to relax between moments of intensity, and never rush through the process. Listen closely to your body’s signals, letting edging feel organic rather than forced. This practice can bring immense pleasure, so allow yourself to explore at a pace that feels both safe and enjoyable.
What are some yoni massage tools?
Yoni massages, known for their therapeutic benefits in cultivating arousal and pleasure, often utilize various yoni massage tools. These include crystal wands, made of stones like Rose quartz, to offer gentle, energetic benefits, and yoni eggs to help strengthen muscles and enhance sensitivity. Body-safe oils such as coconut or jojoba are also used to increase comfort and glide, with essential oils adding a soothing aromatic touch. Our special recommendation: Tachyonized Pleasure Wand or the Tachyonized G-Spot Delight and Tachyonized Organic Coconut Oil.
